The Faculty bid a fond farewell to Advising Officer Josh Robertson in August. After ten years as part of our Student Services team, Robertson recently accepted a position as an Enrolment Service Professional (ESP) with UBC Enrolment Services.
In one of more than 60 newly-created positions within UBC Enrolment Services, Robertson will be assigned a cohort of 900 undergraduate students, all drawn from different degree programs. He will provide personalized support to each student throughout their time at UBC, acting as their go-to person for help with everything from student financing to career options.
ESP’s can tailor their advice for each student and situation. In late August, Robertson began six weeks of intensive training to get up to speed on admissions, registration, student records, fee assessment.
UBC is the first large university in Canada to implement a personalized service model. This new service model will compliment and support the Faculty Advising Offices. Students will continue to have access to the comprehensive range of online self-service options but when they require additional help, they can connect directly with their ESP.
