The Faculty was delighted to welcome Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn of Thailand to our Food, Nutrition and Health building on Friday, January 10, 2014.
The Princess toured the Wine Research Centre and the Wine Library, and heard research presentations by Dean Murray Isman and Profs Judy McLean, David Kitts and Hennie van Vuuren. Later that afternoon, more than forty VIP guests gathered for a special reception in her honour, including several Thai students studying at UBC.
Princess Chulabhorn is heavily involved in the promotion of scientific research. She serves as the President of the Chulabhorn Research Institute, the goal of which is to utilize science and technology to improve quality of life. She holds a BSc, First Class Honours, from the Faculty of Science at Kasetsart University (1979) and earned a doctorate from Mahidol University (1985).
